Olive Wood, Olive Branch

We love Berard's Olive Wood kitchen pieces, hand crafted and thus each entirely unique in their beautiful grainlines and finish. We also love that they are the first new arrival at La Merceria this 2011!

Symbolic of peace, the olive is amongst the first crop of the season: to offer an olive branch is an offer of friendship, camaraderie, and knowledge, the exchange of which is said to maintain peace and happiness. A fabulous sentiment to start the year off with!

Gift Guide: The Charcuterie & Cheese Sophisticate

Charcuterie has become a major food trend in the past couple of years, with a return to the rustic and traditional modes of preparing meats and cheeses.  We have three great wooden serving boards to feature you or your giftee's favourite charcuterie plates, each a very different style.

Our olive wood boards are small and wonderful for home (and those summer picnics we long for). The boards feature beautiful grain, and the olive wood thrives when treated with natural oils and foods. 

These traditional Argentinean gaucho steak cutting boards are a great play on serving up the charcuterie trend. And what goes better with cured meats and cheese than a glass of wine? We love these vintage french water glasses that graciously double as a laissez faire wine glass.

And finally, the Canvas hickory board will beautifully display a any cheese spread, but the rich hickory scent comes to life when the board is enjoyed!
