NYC-The Standard

Marcelo & I recently got back from our buying trip to New York, and we came back more inspired than ever. Even with the current economic situation, we got the same rush of creative energy that we usually get, New York is always so alive!  but there was certainly something different in the air and is clear that times are changing.  For instance we got an amazing hotel rate at none other than Andre Balazs new  hotel The Standard, $195/night (unheard of a year ago), but the best part was the quality of service and the well designed rooms, staff were refreshingly unpretentious, and the room felt comfortable and spacious, I see a definite trend in the warm wood tones and round edges, oh and the complimentary breakfast, was not the usual  continental, the pastries were so yummy & abundant, (nutella included) the orange juice was truly freshly squeezed and the coffee (almost as good as La Merceria!) we are definitely marking this as our new favorite place to stay in NY
